About Bier Distillery:
From a long line of bakers and brewers, we were looking for a way to put our stamp on a family tradition. Distilled spirits was the answer.
Then, the real work began. Formulations and recipes were developed to get the target taste profile from each spirit. Bottles were ordered, labels designed, knuckles were scraped. The dream became reality. We now produce an expanding line of libations and spirit-inspired wares including hand sanitizer at our distillery.
In this episode I am speaking with the Chef and owner Felipe Ruiz Del Pozo from Mapocho fresh sanwishes food truck. Chef Filipe started out hustling and slinging good food in the Grand Rapids area and decided to go out on his own and start his 100% scratch mobile Chilean/German fusion truck. Mitten Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that exists to enhance and elevate our community by utilizing the resources of The Mitten Brewing Company and partners. Each month, the Mitten Foundation partners with a different local non-profit organization in an effort to raise both funds and awareness. With the help of its staff and customers, Mitten Foundation and The Mitten Brewing Company has raised more than $150,000 for local organizations since 2012.
The foundation's criteria for choosing non-profit partners is twofold: the organization must be local, and they must be small enough that the donation will make a measurable difference. The foundation strives to connect each dollar donated to the effect it has.
The Mitten Brewing Company was humbled to receive the West Michigan Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professional’s 2015 “President’s Award” in recognition of its commitment to fundraising. The company plans to expand its community involvement efforts as it grows, and they recently started an employee volunteer program that provides staff with opportunities to become personally involved with non-profit partners.
