Crunchy Croutons
Ingredients:
- 3 to 4 large slices of bread
- 2 ounces melted butter
- 2 ounces bacon fat
- 2 ounces corn oil
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon of dried dill
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 350F° on convention and wash hands!
- With a sharp bread knife cut the bread into half inch cubes
- Melt the fats and get them warm over a double boiler to make the oil nice and thin
- Add all dry ingredients except for smoked paprika to the oil and mix well
- Gently fold the bread cubes into the oil and seasonings
- Place the bread cubes evenly across a sheet pan and sprinkle the rest of the seasoning on top making sure none of the bread cubes touch each other
- Bake at 350F° on convention for a few minutes
- Turn on broiler for a couple minutes to brown the cubes
- Turn off the oven and let the croutons dry out for at least two hours.
- Serve on top of your favor salad!
