Crunchy Croutons

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 large slices of bread
  • 2 ounces melted butter
  • 2 ounces bacon fat
  • 2 ounces corn oil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon of dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F° on convention and wash hands!
  2. With a sharp bread knife cut the bread into half inch cubes
  3. Melt the fats and get them warm over a double boiler to make the oil nice and thin
  4. Add all dry ingredients except for smoked paprika to the oil and mix well
  5. Gently fold the bread cubes into the oil and seasonings
  6. Place the bread cubes evenly across a sheet pan and sprinkle the rest of the seasoning on top making sure none of the bread cubes touch each other
  7. Bake at 350F° on convention for a few minutes
  8. Turn on broiler for a couple minutes to brown the cubes
  9. Turn off the oven and let the croutons dry out for at least two hours.
  10. Serve on top of your favor salad!
